Assistive Button

The Challenge

CanAssist is an organization at the University of Victoria that is dedicated to helping people with disabilities improve their quality of life and to increasing awareness of disability issues. A pressure sensitive button is used as an actuator for many of the mechanical challenges they solve and would like to have access to a less expensive solution and manufacture a button in house.

The Solution

Reaching out to the AT Maker community, Makers Making Change and Replik8 Studios collaborated on a this light touch assitive button that  which gives a good overview of various mechanical elements (assembly,  threads, location features). From the 3D view cube you can download files for free, share, explode, and view from all angles.
